Steel Primers: Primers enhance the durability and adherence of paint to the structure. Two types of primers commonly used for steel are zinc-rich primers and epoxy primers.

With epoxy coatings, aggregates like silica sand or quartz can be added to build up and strengthen the floor.

Adding or improving anti-graffiti qualities, reflectivity, thermal-shock resistance, abrasion-proofing, and chemical resistances with specialty topcoats are also done during the finish coat stage.
